Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are widely popular in the logistics industry, providing convenience through the optimization and automation of secure material transport on company premises, in warehouses and even in the healthcare sector.

Today we will discuss more details of AGV.

Main components:

Body: Composed of a chassis and relevant mechanical devices, the foundational part for the installation of other assembly components.

Power and Charging System: Includes charging stations and automatic chargers centrally managed by the control system, enabling 24-hour continuous production through automatic online charging.

Drive System: Comprising wheels, reducers, brakes, drive motors, and speed controllers, operated either by a computer or manual control to ensure safety.

Guidance System: Receives instruction from the guidance system, ensuring that the AGV travels along the correct path.

Communication Device: Facilitates information exchange between the AGV, control console, and monitoring devices.

Safety and Auxiliary Devices: Equipped with obstacle detection, collision avoidance, audible alarms, visual warnings, emergency stop devices, etc., to prevent system malfunctions and collisions.

Handling Device: Directly interacts with and transports goods, offering various handling systems such as roller-type, forklift-type, mechanical-type, etc., based on different tasks and environmental conditions.

Central Control System: Composed of computers, task collection systems, alarm systems, and related software, performing functions such as task allocation, vehicle dispatch, path management, traffic management, and automatic charging.

There are normally drive ways of AGVs: single-wheel drive, differential drive, dual-wheel drive, and omnidirectional drive, with vehicle models primarily categorized as three-wheeled or four-wheeled. Selection should consider the actual road conditions and functional requirements of the workplace.

The advantages of AGV include:

High operational efficiency

High automation

Reduce the mistake by manual operation

Automated charging

Convenience, minimizing space requirements

Relatively lower costs
